Artist Statement
"The qualities I strive to capture in my Oil Paintings are the light, color and feeling I have toward the nature of the subject. There must be a heart felt connection."
Doloris Pederson is dedicated to the visual Arts for over 40 years as Painter, Art Instructor, Guest Lecturer and Art Collector.
The union of the Sprit of Life and Art has taken Pederson to Galleries and Museum Exhibitions both Nationally and Internationally to study works of the Historic California Art club Members and the works of Sorolla, Velázquez, Sargent
and Van Gogh to mention a few.
Her paintings reflect the nature of the country side of California, Colorado, Kansas and Europe.
Marlene Vitanza of the Peregrine Gallery in Montecito, California says of Pederson’s paintings, "She's an enthusiastic Artist and her enthusiasm comes through in her paintings. Her Color is subtle, yet striking at the same time". Vitanza features Major Historic California artist such as Maurice Braun, Colin C. Cooper, William Wendt, Edger Payne as well as representing Doloris Pederson since 2000. Pederson's One Woman Show at the Carnegie Art Museum of Oxnard, CA. entitle "Back Roads of Santa Rosa Valley", reflected her everyday experiences of the valley. "Pederson gave Ventura County pride of geographic place just as the early 20th Century Artists like Maurice Braun gave to San Diego or William Wendt gave to Laguna Beach" says Susan Bella, Director of the Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard, Ca. Pederson’s works are in Major Art Collections including The Joan Irvine Smith Collections, Irvine California; The Santa Barbara Historical Museum, Santa Barbara, California; The Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard, California; The Hadley Foundation Collection, Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. The Hadley Foundation Collection is a major repository of works by established Professional Kansas Artists. Pederson’s works in this Collection were chosen from each of her top solo exhibitions from the early nineties to the present.
